MAZE

WORLD PREMIERE: FESTIVAL CITTÀ DELLE 100 SCALE 2018.

MAZE is a live cinematic shadow theatre performance in wich the shadows of hand-crafted three-dimensional sculptures are projected on a big screen. The light sources are used as cameras in order to give the public the illusion of watching a real film. Evocative scenes, like visual poems depict splinters of treasured and significant moments from a life.

There isn’t any text in the performance, but an original soundtrack that is intertwined with the scenes and becomes a fundamental part of the narration.

The universal language of visual theatre without words becomes an instrument to investigate the human mind and its many facets.

"The three performer-animators, silent and precise, give life to a film of figures: shadows that flow on the backdrop in the subjective of the invisible protagonist, of which we can intuit the blink of an eye, a hand, the arms that move in a swimming pool which becomes a magical crossing of fantastic underwater worlds. Unterwasser seems to say that there are no limits to the imagination, nor to the possibility of dreaming. "

— Andrea Porcheddu, GLI STATI GENERALI

"This magical work, pervaded with tenderness, has the gift of kidnapping us, giving us access to the rich unconscious material in which the soul swims and feeds. We appreciate this flowering, this saving caress, even more in this historical phase oppressed by fears and disorientation."

— Sonia Coppoli e Chiara Guarducci, GUFETTO PRESS

"The complex charm of refined poetry and sophisticated craftsmanship.”

— Valeria Ottolenghi, LA GAZZETTA DI PARMA
